My Baby Boy

Hi everyone! I know I promised I'd be back blogging soon
but I haven't been able to peel myself away from my new little guy. The last few weeks have been amazing. He is a wonderful baby and I feel so so blessed. If I can stop staring at him for a while I will be back. ;) I have some DIY ideas to share with you and hopefully will get to them soon. For now, I am still ooh-ing and ahh-ing over my lil' cutie. If I am not back before Christmas I wish you all the best, most blessed holidays with your families.

Party Hair Tutorials

There are so many things that go into a party
and of course other than just the party you can't forget yourself! ...your outfit, your makeup, your hair, etc.!!
So, I rounded up a few of my favorite hair ideas to share with you.

Party hair tutorials, Cara Loren, top knot bun

This first hair idea is a great top knot bun from Cara Loren.
I just recently discovered it and had to watch it over and over because it is seriously that quick! Buns are so easy and cute and most importantly fast. So when you are short on time, or even if you aren't, I think this is a great way to go!

party hair tutorials, cup of jo, braided crown
Next up is a beautiful braided crown from Joanna Goddard of A Cup of Jo.
If you've never visited her blog you will definitely be there a while!

party hair tutorials, The Paper Mama, no heat curls

Lastly, I love this idea from The Paper Mama for no heat curls.
I always curl my hair with a flat iron and love it because it is quick and stays without any product. But, to save your hair from all that heat, this is a great way to switch off every few days. Not to mention it's a different look. You're not going to get perfect curls but it is a nice curl/wave with body and I really like that you can wake up in the morning and pretty much be set. It's also great when doing other hairstyles where you don't wanna start off with straight hair - like a bun. AND, great for us Mamas for an everyday style just because our mornings are always so busy anyway!

Please visit these awesome links for the full tutorials. These are just a few ideas to get your wheels turning for the next party you're giving or attending, or even just for a different everyday look. You can also visit my Pinterest hair board for some more inspiration.

Baby Thoughts

kids

I ♥ this.
I found it on Pinterest a while back. It's from Etsy but unfortunately is no longer available.

I am getting very close to having my Baby and I am getting sooo excited. Not nervous yet...just very excited. It's amazing to be a Mama. It is the hardest, easiest, most draining, most fulfilling......most wonderful thing in the world. I don't know why I'm so sentimental tonight. If you know me actually, you know I'm sentimental always. But maybe more so today because we set a date for Baby. Whether he got the memo or not...well, we'll just have to see. ;) But, I am ready and waiting.
I know him and at the same time cannot wait to meet him. :)

Hope you enjoyed the pic above.
Goodnight.

{Creationz} Lunchbox Notes

lunchbox notes, free printable

Happy Friday everybody!
I am so happy that the week is over and I'm in a giving mood. So how about another free printable?
I made these little Lunchbox Note Cards to stick in my little one's lunch bag. They love getting notes in their lunch and call me on it when I miss a day! LOL ;) These are more on the girly side so I'm working on some for the little guys too. I hope you enjoy these and I hope you can use them next week for lunches! Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

Random Thoughts

Hi everybody!
I am up late at night typing this when I should be in bed and thought I would check in and chat for a bit. First of all, I love seeing that people are still visiting my little corner of blogland and I am so sorry I have not posted in so long. Where should I begin???

I am getting very close to having my new little boy and am very, very excited, nervous, excited, anxious, excited...you get the picture. I also recently sent my baby boy of 5 years off to Kinder with his big sister and that was quite an experience for me...to say the least. My son told everyone (very openly) how he was going to cry and didn't want to go to school and when the time came...he was suddenly a big boy and when I tried to gently break the news that Daddy and I were leaving and we'd be back to pick him up.........."okay" was his devastated response. :( **Insert heartbroken mother here. lol** ;)

Honestly I was very proud but it did break my heart for our summer to be over
and both of my babies to be in school. Very strange to drive home from school alone with no little face in the rearview and no one trailing behind me. But, I am proud of my little Kinder guy and big 1st grade girl. Time just goes by too quick.

Here they are on their first day.

So, I guess I have no excuse for that dirty laundry anymore. Except of course... to post here more often! ;) I hope to be doing that the next few weeks. There is a lot going on. But I do hope to check in a bit more before baby comes. For those of you on Instagram, you can also find me there now as @creationzstudio and of course don't forget to follow on Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest.
Anyway, I guess that is enough rambling for one night and I will talk to you all again very soon!

Monica

Crochet

Image via Pinterest

I've been crocheting lately. My current "craft of choice" my Husband would say.
He says I go from craft to craft and just keep them all in rotation. :) ...crocheting, paper crafts, party goodies, jewelry, etc., etc., etc.

Anyway, I have been making things for Baby and am thinking of crocheting a few Christmas gifts as well. As I was browsing around Pinterest the other night, I found that the Popular page was full of lots of crochet pins also. So, I guess I am not the only one on a crochet kick right now.

One site that I recently discovered is called Ravelry and it has tons of great patterns. Lots of them are free and some are also instant downloads. I'll try to get some picks up soon of the things I've been making.

p.s.
We're having another baby boy! :)

{Magazine Monday} Styled

I have been so absent from my computer and this blog but I miss blogging so much.
I also miss all the amazing blogs that I could sit in front of the computer reading all day.
Lately, I've been trying to catch up on a few of my favorites. One that I adore is A Subtle Revelry. I love Victoria's seemingly effortless but picture perfect parties and ideas. Also, you know how I love magazines and Victoria puts together a digital mag called Styled that is amazing. Check it out here.

{Magazine Monday} Conversation Heart Magnets

conversation heart magnets, diy, valentine's day

This adorable project is from Country Living's February 2010 issue.
It uses conversation hearts, a rubber address stamp, clear sealer, and magnets. Too cute!! I couldn't find the instructions on their site so let me run down them really quick. First stamp the back of a conversation heart with your sentiment and let dry. Then spray the whole candy with a clear sealer. Once that is dry, attach a small magnet with superglue or hot glue and let dry. And you're done! I can't wait to make some! :) Check out some other great Valentine's crafts on Country Living's site here.

{Silent Sunday}

Hey everyone! Hope you are having a great end to your weekend.
I wanted to start a new little series called Silent Sunday where I post a pic (sometimes with a short description) that was from my week, or something that made me smile, or inspired me, etc. Here's the first...

My daughter gasped when she found this outside our door, "Mama look!!! It's a heart!!!"

{Magazine Monday} Sweet and Simple Valentines

easy valentines

This pic above comes from the Scrapbooks Etc. February 2011 Issue.
I love these sweet valentines and how simple they are. You could easily pick up some blank note cards and envelopes, punch a few different hearts (or even use stickers) and stamp or write a sentiment like the "be mine" or "love me" above. The envelopes are adorable! I love the scallops and stitching over the heart. AND of course the colors are my favorite! Hope these inspire you to start thinking of your valentines! ;)

{Friday Fave} Project Life

If you haven't heard of Project Life by Becky Higgins I am really glad that you are hearing about it now. I heard about it a while back and recently looked more into it. I really want to use it this year so I thought I would share.

If you are like me then you have every intention of preserving your photos and family memories and making that amazing scrapbook with layouts like you see in your Scrapbooks Etc. magazine (too dramatic??) ........but....it just hasn't happened. You might have tons a few pictures on your SD cards and you may even have a box like this...

DIY Wrap Bracelets

diy bracelets, diy wrap bracelets, bracelet tutorial

Forgive this incredibly dark pic but it was night time. You know, the time when my kids look like angels in their beds and I can craft!!! ;) I made these bracelets....which I LOVE and one of which I have been dying to make for a while! If you have not discovered Honestly WTF yet you have to check it out! Their tutorial for the brown wrap bracelet you see above is awesome and that's what I followed to make mine. It's been on my list forever and I am so happy I finally made it!  *Just FYI: I had waxed cotton thread instead of waxed linen and it worked fine. Also, for the ball chain I just bought one you would use for your ceiling fan in the hardware dept. at Wal-Mart for less than $2*  The other is a beaded wrap bracelet that takes a little more work but is seriously not that hard at all. I looked at several videos on You Tube for these bracelets and this one is a little long but has a really good close shot of the process.

These are seriously addicting! I have a date with some more beads today! ;) lol

For a tutorial on another super easy diy bracelet check out this one.

{Magazine Monday} Paper Airplane Valentines

The other day I got my Country Living February Issue in the mail. I it! The front cover alone was gorgeous! There are so many great things in this issue, including four Valentine's Day projects. I know we just got through Christmas and New Year's but the one above is super cute and easy. Cathe Holden from Just Something I Made, who is also a CL contributing editor, made this great paper airplane for you to print out. All you have to do is write your mushy love note and you're set. :) Check out the project here along with other great Valentine's Day ideas.

Don't forget to check out Just Something I Made as well. I used some other awesome printables from Cathe for this party.
